Whatever It Takes:
A Call to Action from Acts 26
In Acts 26, we find the Apostle Paul standing before King Agrippa, declaring the truth of Jesus Christ and the power of faith to transform sinners. In verse 29, Paul expresses his heartfelt desire, saying, “Whether short or long, I would to God that not only you but also all who hear me this day might become such as I am—except for these chains.” This statement expresses Paul's commitment to doing whatever it takes to share the Gospel and give others the opportunity to become new creations in Christ.
A Willingness to Speak
Paul's journey in Acts 26 begins with a willingness to defend his faith. He waited patiently for permission to speak, understanding the importance of respecting authority while also seizing the opportunity to share the truth about Jesus (Acts 26:1). His gratitude for every opportunity to share the Gospel was evident, as he earnestly pleaded with those around him to listen (Acts 26:2-3).
Sharing Resurrection Truth
With great passion, Paul shared the core of his message: the truth of the resurrection. He recounted his own story, openly sharing the good, the bad, and the ugly parts of his testimony (Acts 26:4-8, 9-18). In exposing his past Paul’s testimony resonated with his audience, showing that transformation is possible for everyone, regardless of their flaws and failures.
Paul emphasized the necessity of repentance and the importance of living a life that reflects a changed heart (Acts 26:19-20). His commitment to preaching this message, even in the face of persecution, demonstrated his unwavering faith. He endured criticism and hardship because he believed in the power of resurrection and the call to repentance (Acts 26:21-23).
Living for the Eternal
Paul's boldness was driven by his focus on the eternal rather than the temporal. He was willing to be perceived as “out of his mind” for the sake of the Gospel (Acts 26:24-32). His example challenges us to consider: What does it look like to do whatever it takes to live Christ-honoring, God-glorifying lives today?
Whatever It Takes...
In Acts 26 we learn that the Apostle Paul was willing to do whatever it took to worship God and make disciples for Jesus Christ. As we reflect on Paul's example, let us ask ourselves how we can become infected with this same spirit of determination and passion in our own lives. Whether short or long, let’s keep seeking God and committing to do whatever it takes to see revival, repentance, and resurrection power reign in Walnut Springs and beyond.
Let us strive to be voices of hope and truth in our community, sharing the message of Christ with love and sincerity. May our lives reflect the transformative power of the Gospel, as we work together to bring others to a saving knowledge of Jesus. Whatever it takes, let’s take action and be the hands and feet of Christ in our world!
