“Little by Little”
Deuteronomy 16:1-8
Sermon Notes 04/28/2024
Little by little we become more like Jesus or little by little we drift away from God.
Leaven is little and it works slowly but it makes a huge difference (Deuteronomy 16:1-3).
God called the nation of Israel to use food and festivals to remember they were a people called to be holy, generous, trusting and celebratory of the special relationship God had called them into.
The festivals included Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread, Feast of Weeks(Pentecost), Feast of Trumpets, Day of Atonement, Feast of Booths, Feast of Dedication, Purim(Esther)
Passover was followed by “The Feast of Unleavened Bread.”
During this festival the Israelites were commanded to remove all leaven from their houses and eat no bread that contained leaven (Deuteronomy 16:4-8).
Are you surrounding yourself with people, food and festivals that, little by little, remind you, and teach others that we are God’s people who are redeemed by the blood of Christ?
Are you mindful that those who have been washed in His blood are also called to be holy, generous, trusting and celebratory of the special relationship with God we have through Jesus?
